I thought this was quite a fitting article for a Monday. Whenever I ask people about their reasons for looking for a new role or opportunity, I have never heard of anyone wanting to leave due to messy work place, loud eaters, slow computers etc.
I do hear a lot from the Actuarial community that their firms data is weak or there isn't enough of it to work with properly but never that their computers are too slow. I know this is a key selling point for the consulting firm RPC at the moment, that their run time for Tyche is considerably faster than other Actuarial software.
As I am mid flow typing my colleague has just moaned about his slow internet access today so I had better get that sorted for him! :)
What are your top gripes?
If your colleague munching loudly on their lunch is driving you mad then you're not alone. Noisy or messy eaters, alongside moaning, were among the top complaints of 1,000 office workers asked to name their biggest workplace irritations. The survey, commissioned by electronics giant Samsung, suggests distractions caused by colleagues led to workers losing 22 minutes each day on average. However, workers said issues with technology were their biggest problem.
